Meeting of representatives of the Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (OSCE/ODIHR) at the Ministry of Internal Affairs

On July 20, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Uzbekistan hosted a meeting with representatives of the Prosecutor General's Office and the National Guard and a delegation from the Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (OSCE/ODIHR), headed by Vladimir Misev, Senior Advisor on New Voting Technologies at the OSCE/ODIHR.

The Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Ya. Abdulkhakov, Deputy Commander of the National Guard, M. Ganiev, heads of departments of the Prosecutor General's Office B. Babajanov and T. Umarov and the head of the International Cooperation Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs N. Makhmudov attended the meeting.

The guests expressed their sincere gratitude to the Uzbek side for the opportunity to visit the country. According to V. Misev, this visit will discuss measures to ensure security, protect the rights of citizens of the Republic during the period of the constitutional referendum and outline prospects for further expanding bilateral cooperation.

He stressed that participating in a full-scale ODIHR mission in the referendum would confirm the country's commitment to democratic reforms and dialogue with the international community.

In conclusion, the distinguished guest noted that the current visit to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, incl. previous meetings in the Central Election Commission, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Agency for Information and Mass Communications under the Administration of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Oliy Majlis and others will allow discussing the prospects for further cooperation between Uzbekistan and the OSCE.
